B-type elastomeric Bearings are cost-effective, maintenance-free solutions for concrete structures, offering superior load transmission, rotation, and damping. Reinforced with steel plates, they handle dynamic loads with up to 5% damping and operate in extreme temperatures (-40°C to +50°C). High rotation capacity and corrosion protection provide long-lasting performance, making them ideal for use where vertical loads exceed horizontal forces. They outperform steel alternatives like Pot and Spherical Bearings. They are perfect for bridges and sometimes dynamic isolation in buildings.

Pot Bearings
Pot Bearings offer efficient load transmission and rotational movement for steel and concrete structures, using a metal piston and an unreinforced elastomer pad confined within a metal cylinder. Designed to bear vertical and horizontal forces, they allow rotational movement about any axis in the horizontal plane. Available in Free, Fixed, Longitudinally Guided, and Transversely Guided types, Pot Bearings feature low sliding friction, high rotation capacity (up to 0.03 radians), and high displacement capabilities. They are self-aligning, easy to install, and low maintenance, making them ideal for bridges with complex load and movement requirements. Pot Bearings
Spherical Bearings provide a controlled transfer of vertical and horizontal forces between superstructures and substructures, making them ideal for long-span, continuous, or cable-stay bridges. Featuring a steel plate with sliding guides and PTFE/UHMWPE sheets for low-friction movement, they allow moderate rotations and displacements. Their high load capacity, low sliding friction, and self-alignment make them suitable for demanding applications like road-railway bridges. Spherical Bearings are available in Free, Fixed, Longitudinally, and Transversely Guided types and offer up to 0.03 radians of rotation. Customizable, low-maintenance, and easily replaceable, they provide reliable performance with minimal cost impact over time.

F-Type Elastomeric Bearings
F-Type Elastomeric Bearings are cost-effective solutions that handle moderate to intense vertical loads, considerable movements (up to ±250 mm), and high horizontal force transmission. Featuring a laminated bearing with top and bottom plates, they offer excellent performance under varying loads and act as dynamic isolators in structures like bridges. These maintenance-free bearings are durable and corrosion-resistant, with a high rotation capacity (up to 0.03 radians) and resistance to extreme temperatures (-40°C to +50°C). They are ideal for steel and concrete structures and provide an economical alternative to Pot and Spherical Bearings, especially for high horizontal load applications.

Disc Bearings
Disc Bearings, or High Load Multi Rotational (HLMR) Bearings, are advanced structural bearings designed for very high rotation capacity (up to 0.04 radians) alongside large vertical and horizontal load transmission. Metco produces these bearings in collaboration with RJ Watson USA. Disc bearings consist of a polyether urethane disc confined by steel plates and feature a shear restriction mechanism to prevent unwanted movement. Available as fixed, unidirectional, or bi-directional bearings, they are ideal for long-span cable-stayed and suspension bridges where uplift forces, wind, and variable loads come into play. With self-alignment, anti-uplift capabilities, and low maintenance requirements, these bearings offer compact, customised solutions that deliver reliable performance and are easily replaceable.

Finger Type Joint Expansions
Finger Type Joint Expansions are used in bridge construction to manage the expansion and contraction of bridge surfaces while reducing noise compared to other joints. Made of interlocking steel plates resembling fingers, they allow smooth movement across the joint. Beneath the joint, our reinforced neoprene rubber seal provides drainage and limits water runoff, reducing aquaplaning risks. With a movement capacity of over 110 mm, these joints handle higher loads than strip seals, are easier to replace or repair with minimal traffic disruption, and maintain a smooth road surface for added rider comfort.

Modular Expansion Joints
Modular Expansion Joints, or lamella joints, are a unique mechanical bridge component designed and manufactured by METCO to ensure smooth vehicle movement over large expansion gaps. They allow bridge movement in multiple directions (longitudinal, transverse, vertical) and handle service as well as seismic activity by dividing expansion gaps into smaller "cells." These modular cells enable flexible, multi-directional expansion to suit temperature changes, creating a smooth driving surface. Our modular joints can support movements exceeding 80 mm and provide watertight seals to protect bridge structures from loose debris, water, and corrosive chemicals. With added noise-reducing sinus plates, they lower noise by up to 70%. For seismic events, we have a special configuration with built-in fuses that accommodate sudden, erratic movements, enhancing the bridge’s durability and safety.

Elastomet Slab Seal Expansion Joints
Elastomet Slab Seal Expansion Joints serve as an expansion joint in bridge structures, filling the gap between deck slabs to accommodate thermal movement (20–230 mm) through elastomeric shear deformation. Made from high-quality chloroprene rubber (e.g., Neoprene, Bayprene), METCO’s elastomet slabs provide a smooth, skid-resistant surface suitable for varied wheel profiles, minimizing skidding during braking. Steel inserts within our elastomet slabs conform to IS: 2062-2011 standards and are molded for durability. Our slab seals offer watertight performance, absorb structural movement without vibration, and withstand traffic loads. They are easy to maintain and provide accessible inspection points, with all replaceable parts ensuring extended usability.

High Damping Rubber Bearings (HDRB)
High Damping Rubber Bearings (HDRB) are made from rubber and reinforcing steel layers and provide horizontal stiffness and energy dissipation (up to 16% damping) to isolate structures like bridges and buildings. Developed in collaboration with TechStar (USA), HDRBs support vertical and horizontal loads, shift the structure’s vibration period to a safer level, and dissipate energy to reduce horizontal movement, protecting structures during strong earthquakes. This feature is crucial for strategic facilities (e.g., hospitals, and large buildings).



In simple span bridges, Load-Restraining Devices (LUDs) link deck-to-deck across expansion joints, locking sliding bearings during high-load events (e.g., braking). This enables all the piers and abutments to share the load, thus reducing stress on any single pier. Similarly, in continuous girder bridges, LUDs added to expansion piers allow multiple piers to share seismic loads, enhancing stability affordably without additional reinforcement to fixed piers. This results in safer structures as well as lowering construction costs.
